ABOUT CHIROPRACTIC
WHAT IS CHIROPRACTIC?
The word chiropractic is of Greek derivation and, literally translated, means "done by hand." Chiropractic is a system of therapy that helps maintain a patient's health and well being through spinal manipulation, which involves adjusting the vertebrae in the spinal column, without the use of drugs or surgery. Additional therapeutic procedures may include the use of ultrasound stimulation of deep tissue, massage, cold packs, heat and electrical muscle stimulation. The chiropractic approach to patient care recognizes that many factors affect health, including exercise, diet, rest, and environment and heredity.

Neck Pain Shoulder Pain Scoliosis

PAIN MANAGEMENT
Chiropractors focus on the spine and the nervous system and how their imbalances can cause pain. Chiropractors utilize a manual or hands-on form of therapy that involves a series of "adjustments" or "manipulations" to the vertebrae. The expected result of chiropractic treatment is an end to, or a relief from, the pain.
Trigger Points and Myofascial Pain Syndrome
Trigger points are focal hyperirritable areas in muscle tissue that are associated with palpable nodules and are a common cause of pain. These trigger points can strongly modulate central nervous system functions. Compression, vibration, massage, electric stimulation, and ultrasound are all therapies used in the treatment of trigger points and myofascial pain. Many common conditions such as arthritis, bursitis, tendinitis, sciatic pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and TMJ syndrome are often misdiagnosed when trigger points are the true cause of pain.
